Back Up Doulas
Kate Richmond LM,CPM
Hello! I'm Kate Richmond. I am nationally certified by the North American Registry of Midwives (NARM) as a Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) and credentialed by the State of Washington as a Licensed Midwife (LM). I received my formal education through Birthwise Midwifery School, a MEAC accredited school in rural Maine. During my education I had the honor of attending births in Maine, New Hampshire, Washington and California. After years of schooling and attending births all over the US, I returned home to open my own practice, Huckleberry Homebirth Midwifery, where I provided maternity care to Seattle-area families.
I joined Tiffany Wilson as a midwifery partner in the Spring of 2018, and have availability to offer back up support for her doula clients the rare chance it's needed.
I have had a passion for reproductive health since youth. I believe that childbearing is a natural, normal part of life that should be celebrated and empowered. I am honored to be there to support and guide families through this exciting time in their lives.
When I'm not catching babies, I can be found spending time with my family (my two adopted kiddos and partner), fermenting and baking at home, playing at the local arcades, or exploring the beautiful northwest forests and beaches.
I am expecting my first baby mid March 2019 and plan to be on maternity leave for a few months. (Yes, Tiffany will be at my birth)
Emily Harris CD, DONA
My name is Emily Harris and I am a DONA certified childbirth doula. I have lived in Seattle my entire life and spent most of my adulthood as a middle school Language Arts teacher. My passion for birth work began when my friends started having children. I saw their struggles and their joys and recognized the need for wrap-around support during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. I completed my training at Bastyr three years ago, and I fall in love with the work more and more with every birth I attend.
I believe that an informed decision is a good decision, and I work with families from a place of absolute love and acceptance. My goal with every birth is to help each person involved in the labor and delivery feel empowered by their experience.
